When it comes to cuisine, India is a country which has embraced many of the recipes from our neighbouring countries, especially urban location some of the recipes have been adapted as street foods in India. One such popular snack is momos which can be made with different stuffing. With leftover dry vegetables you too can make these momos.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes
For making dough:
11/2 cup Plain flour / Maida;
1/2 tsp. Salt;
Water for kneading;
oil for greasing.
3 tsp. Oil
3 finely chopped Garlic cloves;
1 inch finely chopped Ginger;
2 finely chopped chilli;
4 tbsp. Spring onions;
1 cup grated Carrot;
2 cup shredded Cabbage;
1/2 tsp. crushed Pepper;
1/2 tsp. Salt.
How to prepare?
Lets prepare the dough first. In a large mixing bowl add Maida and salt.
Add water and knead it for 5 minutes. Knead it smooth and soft. Add water as required.
Grease the dough with oil and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Till the time, lets make stuffing. In a pan add Oil, Garlic, Ginger and Chilli. Sauté it.
Add 2 tbsp. spring onions and sauté it on a high flame.
Then, add carrot, cabbage and sauté it on a high flame.
Add pepper and salt.
Stir it well and make sure you do not overcook vegetables.
Additionally add 2 tbsp. Spring onions and stuffing is ready.
Now, lets continue with dough. After 30 minutes, knead well again for a minute.
Pinch a small ball and flatten it.
Dust some maida and start to roll using rolling pin.
Place a heaped tbsp of prepared stuffing in the center.
Start pleating the edges slow,y and gather it all.
Press in the middle and seal the momos forming a bundle.
Place the momos in the steamer tray without touching each other. Make sure you grease the steamer with butter or ghee before placing momos in it.
Let it steam for 10-15 minutes.
Momos are done!
Now lets make delicious momos chutney.
Preparation time: 1 minute
Cooking time: 9 minutes
2 medium or large size tomatoes;
3-4 dry red chillies;
4-5 cloves of Garlic chopped;
1 inch Ginger;
1/4 tsp. Sugar;
1 tsp. Vinegar;
1 tsp. Soya Sauce;
Salt as required
3 cups of Water.
How to prepare?
In a pan add tomato and dry red chillies in water. Let it boil for 5-6 minutes or till the skin of tomatoes comes out.
Remove the skin of tomatoes and add red chillies and tomatoes in mixer.
Add ginger, garlic, sugar, vinegar, soya sauce and salt. Grind it well. Do not add water.
Momos chutney is ready.
