Spinach Cream soup

Spinach (palak) has long been known as an incredibly healthy "super green" ingredient. Raw spinach is a low-calorie food rich in essential nutrients such as iron, calcium, and vitamin K.

Serves: 4


4 cups Spinach - Rinsed, Washed and Chopped;

1 large Onion - chopped finely;

2-3 small to medium sized garlic cloves;

2 tbsp. Gram flour or chickpea flour;

1 tsp. Cumin powder;

2 Bayleaf;

3 cups water;

4 cups of water or chicken stock or vegetable stock;

2-3 tbsp. Butter or Olive oil;

1/2 tsp. Black pepper powder;

Salt as per taste;

4-6 tbsp. fresh cream for topping (optional);

4-6 pinches black pepper powder for topping (optional).

How to prepare?

  • First, rinse the spinach leaves very well in water several times, then drain all the water.

  • Then, chop the spinach and set it aside. If the stems are tenderly soft, make use of it as well.

Sauté and Cook the Spinach Soup Mix:

  • Now add the minced garlic and sauté until the garlic is lightly browned or browned. Don't burn the garlic.

  • Sauté the garlic over low heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until onions are soft.

  • Add chopped spinach. Mix and season with black pepper and salt.

  • Now add the besan or chickpea flour. Mix well.

  • Pour 2 cups water and mix again.

  • Boil water and then simmer it for about 3-4 minutes.

  • Next, add cumin powder and stir well.

  • Turn off the heat and let the soup mixture cool a bit.

Now, let's make spinach soup

  • When the heat of the soup mixture reduces or become warm, blend with a hand blender or in a blender until smooth.

  • Make sure you remove the bay leaf while blending.

  • Check the seasonings and add salt or pepper if necessary.

  • If the soup looks thick, add about ¼ cup of water and mix.

  • Keep the soup well mixed on the stove to simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  • Serve a hot spinach soup sprinkled with a little black pepper and coconut cream.
