Originating from Konkan region of Maharashtra, Ghavan is a traditional breakfast recipe made from rice flour, salt, jeera and water to form batter cooked out like dosas. This recipe is served with coconut and jaggery chutney during festivals. This dish is easy to make and serves as a good breakfast and snack.
1 cup of soaked rice (soaked for 4-5 hours);
Salt as per taste.
How to cook?
Grind the soaked rice for a smooth thick batter adding little water as required.
Transfer the batter in a bowl, add salt and little water to adjust the consistency of the ghavan. Make sure its neither thick nor thin.
Keep the batter aside for 10-15 minutes.
Heat a non stick tawa and spread little oil. Stir the batter and pour it from the edge of the pan moving it to the center. Reduce the heat.
Drizzle little oil from all sides and cook till its light brown. Flip onto another side and cook it.
Serve hot with tomato garlic chutney and Tea.
