Dahi Paneer Curry


Dahi or yogurt recipes are no stranger to Indian recipes. Especially in desserts and sweets, it has become indispensable, but it can also be used in curry and sabji recipes with a hint of spice and sourness. One of these popular and simple ways to make yogurt curry is dahi panner recipe, also known as paneer curd curry, known for its creamy texture and sour taste.


I have always been a big fan of yogurt and similar recipes. Whether it's desserts, sauces, chutneys, curry and sabji, I always like them. But the dahi paneer recipe has something special. You may have tried or tasted Dahi Aloo or Dahi Bhindi, but adding paneer will make it more special or higher quality. Basically adding paneer cubes makes it creamier and richer. In other words, you can use the same base material and add different vegetables to make different types of curries. Well, you can try all other variations of this recipe, but trust me, I will never ignore paneer-based ones. You can even experiment by adding your favourite vegetables along with paneer. It is definitely addictive, but before trying it, I recommend trying the classic first and serve it to your friends and family.

Ingredients:


For marination and roasting paneer:

12 cubles of Paneer;

1/4 tsp. Tumeric powder;

1/4 tsp. Chilli powder;

2 tsp. Oil (to roast);

1/2 petals of Onions;

1/2 cubed Capsicum.


To make curry base:

2 tbsp. Oil;

2 Bay leaf;

5 Cloves

2 Cardamom Pods;

1 tsp. Kasoori Methi;

1 tsp. Cumin;

1 finely chopped Onion;

1 tsp. Ginger Garlic Paste;

1/2 tsp. Tumeric powder;

1 tsp. Chili powder;

1 tsp. Cumin powder;

1 tsp. Coriander powder;

2 tbsp. Besan (Gram flour);

2 cup whisked Curd;

1 cup water;

Salt as per taste;

2 tbsp. finely chopped Coriander;

1/4 tsp. Garam masala.


How to cook?

  • In a large bowl add paneer. Add turmeric, chilli powder. Mix it gently and make sure all spices are well coated.

  • Cover it and marinate for 30 minutes.

  • In a large kadai add Oil. Now, add bayleaf, cloves, cardamom, Kasoori methi and cumin.

  • Saute it on a low flame till it turns aromatic.

  • Add Onion, ginger garlic paste and saute it till onion turns golden brown.

  • On a low flame, add turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and besan.

  • Roast it on a low flame till spices turn aromatic and besan is cooked. Make sure to roast it really well or else there will be raw flavour from besan in the curry.

  • Add 2 cups of curd and stir it continuosly. Whisk the curd well or the curd will split.

  • Keep stirring till the oil releases.

  • Add water and salt. Mix it well. You can add water as per consistency.

  • Lets' look at marinated paneer now.

  • In a pan add 2 tsp. Oil.

  • Roast Onion and capsicum till it turns cruncy.

  • Add marinated paneer and roast it for a minute.

  • Transfer it in curry and mix it well.

  • Cover and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

  • Add Coriander and gram masala. Mix well.

  • Enjoy the dish with roti or phulka.
